Responsibilities of the Principal Officer

Module 1: The Role and Duties of the Principal Officer 

This module will give participants a comprehensive understanding of the role and duties of the Principal Officer in a retirement fund, enabling them to fulfil their responsibilities effectively and contribute to success of the fund.

Module 2: The Role and Duties of the Principal Officer in Terms of the Pension Funds Act

This module will provide an overview of the impact of the Constitution on our laws and will deal with some of the important sections of the Pension Funds Act with which a Principal Officer should be familiar.

Module 3: Other Roles and Responsibilities

This module will give participants a comprehensive understanding of the various roles and responsibilities beyond fiduciary duties that the Principal Officer may have in a retirement fund. It will equip them with strategies and tools to fulfil these responsibilities.

Module 4: Other Legislation

This module will give an overview of some key legislation and the acts that a Principal Officer must know and understand to effectively fulfill their duties.

Module 5: Fiduciary Duties of the Principal Officer

This module will guide the Principal Officer (PO) as an officer of the retirement fund in assisting the Board of Trustees with the fulfilment of its fiduciary duties. As the PO is a key figure in the governance structure of the fund, their role is integral to ensuring compliance, transparency, and accountability in the management of the fund's affairs.
