- Understand the duties of the Board as set out in the Pension Funds Act,
- Understand the duties of a Principal Officer as set out in the Pension Funds Act,
- Understand the other strategic, executive, governance and compliance duties that traditionally are performed by the Principal Officer,
- Know how to carry out these duties,
- Be aware of the roles of and your liaison responsibilities with other fund role players, and
- Know when items should be brought to the attention of the Board.
